It’s been a few weeks now since PS3 firmware update 2.70 went live on the system. It added various features into the mix, most notably the text chat ability. Heads now turn towards the next PS3 firmware 3.0 update, so what would you like to see added?
In-game Private voice-chat
I suppose the most obvious feature PS3 owners would like to see added is the in-game private voice chat feature. Its a feature most talked about between PS3 and Xbox 360 owners and its inclusion would put many arguments to rest.
Other features high on wish lists would include the following:
More XMB integration In-game: In-game XMB invites to other games would be a good feature added
In-game Music: While in-game music is possible in a small list of titles, it is a feature which Sony has yet to deliver on. Many thought this feature would be a common one months ago, but Sony have been reluctant to add custom music in-game for unknown reasons.
Minor Updates could include -
Better Video Chat options
A dedicated Facebook PS3 app
A dedicated Spotify PS3 app
Those are just some of our ideas which we would like to see in the PS3 Firmware 3.0 update. Do you agree with any of these or do you have your own ideas? Share your thoughts below.

how about online storage
faster gameplay
less fuzzy shadows
shearing content with friends
blu-ray motion controls
downloadable SDK for usermade content
in game movie maker (so we can make our own silly videos of the games we play)
Trophy points for cash
more free downloads (eg 15 not 5)
more music option like on the nintendo dsi
a dvd/blu-ray thumbnail playing in the background like the games do
more trophy patches
3-d gaming
a console database so we can learn more about playstation
faster network connections
improved remote play
and full 1080p support for all games
and all xmb fetures acessable in game
Ingame music is there just the developers need to make it functional for the games. But I agree Sony should be pushing more developers to add this or even make it mandatory like trophies.
I hope we get faster in-game XMB, better internet browser, in game private voice chat, and thats all I can think of, the PS3 is already pretty good.
how about sony starting their own isp
i might make my own handheld and console in the near future
with all of these fetures and more.
here are the specs need some feedback.
cpu 8 dual cores clock speed 4.5GHz
gpu multi core derect 12x tech top speed 2000mhz
storage 500gb ssd with online storage
motion controls
7.1 surround sound
rumble support
own isp
voice reginision
web browser
full hd support
dual hdmi ports
blu-ray compatable
online play
multimedia support
plus loads of different games to play (with the console been easy to code for).
What about:
1.- Optical output for SA-CD again (disable since 2.01 firmware)
2.- Subtitles loaded by .srt, etc (not embebbed, etc)
3.- Fix blacker than black in couple PSĀ· + Panasonic PT-AX200
4.- 120 Mhz video output
5.- More audio/videophile options (not only chat and in-game options…remember this player is used by a large number of >25 “childs”
i would like to see a new menu likle play tvs menu, private chat, java enabled, a messanger so u can speak to ppl when there on msn or yahoo and u can use ur own email
Maybe, the most thing needed is a browser update. im sick of using Ebuddy, how about Sony’s own MSN service, Hotmail could be given a thumbs up seeing you cant acces emails and in game music and to be able to select your own music effect, like the mountains that form to the beat instead of it being random and Duke Nukem 3D on PSS(Store)
i would like to see support for shockwave support within the browser, that is one of my biggest requests.
but over all i like how things are progressing, but i would like to see the PS3 become a total htpc, i have a great NAS setup for all my media (with a media server service running on it) but there is some content that is web based that i would like to access w/o the need of the laptop
I would like to see a more compatable internet browser, in-game music, the abilty to actually access your hotmail, facebook support, more trophies, and the best thing of all an interface change.
We have been stuck with the same XMB interface since the ps3 was released, and i think it about time they changed it because it does look pretty dull.
