Apple’s new iPhone 3.0 release and AT&T network improvements
By: Alan Ng | April 21, 2009 | Leave a CommentAT&T have announced that they will be upgrading their network to support 7.2Mps HSDPA for the 3G HSPA network in the US. This is widely reported that this is due to the upcoming release of the new iPhone that is obviously just around the corner.
As reported from Intomobile, the upgrade will allow AT&T to produce 3G data speeds at a theoretical max of 7.2Mbps on the downlink (High Speed Downlink Packet Access – HSDPA), which is double than the current theoretical max of 3.6Mbps.
Considering AT&T did a similar move for the 3G iPhone release, it looks almost certain that the company is following the same pattern this Summer.
Check out the link above for full details of AT&T’s upgrade. Watch this space, the Apple iPhone 3.0 is on the way folks.
