Apple’s March quarter Mac sales growth

The PC market is not in a great place at the moment, so it comes as no surprise that Apple (AAPL) will report a poor March quarter on its Mac sales growth. Never before has Apple seen its sales of Mac computers stall like it has in the March quarter, and we are not out of the woods yet.

Business Insider reports that Wall Street expects that Apple will report that it has shipped 2.1-2.2 million Macs last quarter, which will be a decline of 4%-9% year-over-year decline. This is the first in five years that Apple will report a year-over-year decline on its shipment of Macs.

The last time that we saw a decline of Mac shipments like this was back in 2003, when they were down 5% year-over-year; this was just before the launch of its Power Mac G5 launch. Business Insider wonders if this is the bottom before the PC industry’s next growth spurt.
