Apple Netbook Rumor: Bidding opened to ODMs
By: Peter Chubb | April 21, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe seem to hear a new rumor about the Apple netbook almost every day, and the latest is that Apple has opened the bidding to ODMs. The Commercial Times report suggests that Foxconn Electronics is the current front-runner.
Not much other information has been leaked from the source, so we are not able to give any details on when these are likely to ship. One thing is certain, this is yet more proof that Apple are working on a smaller version of a MacBook.
This latest rumor seems to squash last month’s rumors that Quanta would be the likely manufacturer of the Apple netbook. Foxconn is a more likely choice as they already manufacture the Apple MacBook. Not much is known about this device, but if rumors are true then this new Apple device will be something between the iPhone and the MacBook.
