2009 Phones: Palm Pre vs. New 3G Sidekick LX

There are two hot phones at the moment; one is already on the market, while the other is yet to be released. We are talking about the Palm Pre and the New 3G Sidekick LX from T-Mobile. Looking at both of these phones, it shows that 2009 is going to be a great year for smartphones.

The Palm Pre is going to be the handset that saves Palm, and you can see why. Firstly, the design of the phone is nice and less boxy than other phones on the market, sorry iPhone and G1. Once you close the Pre, it is nice and small and takes hardly any space in your pocket.

The features of the Palm pre are certainly a strong point of the phone, and the new webOS certainly helps the phone work much faster than the iPhone. Having a physical keyboard is a nice touch as many users still have problems with virtual keyboards. The Pre we have to say is on par if not better with the iPhone when it comes to the speed of web browsing, so the 3G Sidekick LX is going to have its work cut out.

Speaking of the 3G Sidekick LX from T-Mobile, this is a slimmed down version of the Sidekick as well as offering a number of new features. The new handset now comes with 3G as you know, Flash support and Twitter integration.

The T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009 is 5.1 inches wide by 2.3 inches high by 0.6 inch thick the handset weighs 6 ounces. Do not think that T-Mobile have produced a more fragile phone, despite its slimmed down size, it is four times tougher than the previous version.

Looking at the Palm Pre and the New 3G Sidekick LX side-by-side the former certainly looks much sexier, and I have to say performs much better.
