OnLive: Server-Based games is the ‘future’ – 2K Games

Christoph Hartmann, who is the founder and president of 2K Games has said today in an interview that server-based game services such as OnLive is the future for the industry.

In the interview with GI.Biz, he states Cloud game services will play an important role in the future of the industry and had no problem pledging his companies support for OnLive.

“What we think the future will be is the market will shift to more server-based games – similar to the movie business where most people just rent instead of view films in the cinema.”

When talking specifically about the benefits OnLive could have in partnership with 2KGames he had this to say: “First of all, there are a lot of people behind OnLive that have incredible track records – you’re always betting on people to some degree, especially in the software world – and we felt also as the market is changing you have to give new people a chance.”

It looks as if 2KGames will be added to the list of names already signed up to the service. What are your opinions on the upcoming OnLive platform?

Getting another big developer like 2kgames is a good sign that OnLive are on to a winner. I can’t wait for the beta!

2k games a great and all, but they really dont have the same atmosphere that EA Sports adds to the mix. I wrote an article on it in my Blog, http://OnLiveDream.com
