Nintendo defends GTA: Chinatown Wars criticism
By: Alan Ng | April 20, 2009 | Leave a CommentFollowing on from our news of poor sales in the US for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the DS, Nintendo have calmed the criticism today by saying this is normal behaviour for other AAA titles.
Yesterday, we asked you the question, ‘What went wrong?’ as the game only managed to sell 89,000 copies during March in the US.
However, as reported by GI.Biz, Vice President of licensing for Nintendo of America, Steve Singer had this to say on the figure: “Chinatown Wars’ is performing in line with AAA titles that have come to our platform like Spore or Lego Star Wars. Those games went on to have very different life-to-date sales numbers.”
What do you make of the game? Does the game justify all the media hype that surrounded it?
