Killzone 2: PS3 Patch 1.24 coming Wednesday, Hardcore ranks added

We can confirm that the latest patch 1.24 for Killzone 2 on the Playstation 3 is coming this Wednesday. It is to coincide with the Japanese release of the game, but will also bring a fair bit of additions and bug fixes.

The patch will also have support for the upcoming Steel & Titanium map pack that is coming on the 30th April. Whats even better though, is that the new patch will bring three new ‘Hardcore’ ranks to the multiplayer mode. The post from Seb Downie on the official PS Boards didn’t explain this feature much, but expect it to be revealed in more detail shortly.

It is also worth pointing out that Seb Downie stated that once this patch goes live, they will start working on the next patch bringing even more features.

”We are continuing to improve the game with updates to existing content and adding new features. Work on the next patch has begun and we will continue to support this game.”

    Just Deathmatch features.

    Deathmatch is Boring. They can do all they want with making more deathmatch maps, but I sold my copy to a store that had like 15 used copies of KILLZONE 2.

    The campaign is only 2.5 hours long.. This game is a rip off and is boring..

    Im sorry wtf are you talking about? For one the campaign is 10-12 hours long. No way you have do it in 2 hours even on easy and you just ran through it not watching anything.

    Second these are not just fixing deathmatch features, and deathmatch is not the only game mode you moron. There is assasination, capture and hold, search and destroy, TDM, and popaganda. Honestly I dont think you ever even played KZ2 so shut the heck up and go back to the xbot forums.

    It’s clear you havn’t played the game, as everyone know single player is longer than Gear2 single player (and better looking and better AI too).

    It must really hurt deep down inside when you see Killzone, and then see what the Xbox offers.. (or does not offer to be precise).

    i think killzone 2 should pack up and leave already. it was hyped, came and disappointed a lot of people. campaign was good for 1 run through. the worst part of the game for me was online multiplayer. ok at best and a shambles at worst,i found myself reverting back to cod4 in no time at all. and for you ps3 fanboys who’ll say i havent played game my psn is

    Do you guys realize that nobody has given their thought about the ‘Hardcore ranks’ like the writer asks for, thus far?
    It was just 2 deluded posters saying the game disappointed on a major scale.

    Honestly Xboys maybe if your system would start getting games that were interesting you would be so happy you wouldnt have to resort to rants about good games.

    So go stare at your Xbox more often and leave the enjoyment to us.

    i think there were a few complaining that it didnt take long enough to get to top rank in multi player so they are probably going to add more, loving the game cant put it down,
    also, if they were made a bit bigger, i wouldnt mind them re making the old Vekta PS2maps like the beech one, that was cool!

    15 copies of KZ2 used? Odd. I’ve been to three different Gamestop shops in the past week and couldn’t find one.

    Hahaha He’s probably waiting for his xbox that got RROD. How long has it been 3 weeks? Don’t worry i feel your pain xbox guy I’ve been there done that. But now I’m through with it and sold it on ebay. Now I’m a happy person :) not some angry gamer who plays HALO 3 24/7.
