Dell to offer Samsung encrypted SSDs (Solid State Drives)
By: Peter Chubb | April 16, 2009 | Leave a CommentDell has been offering solid state and encrypted drives for a while now, but the second largest computer maker is about to offer Samsung encrypted SSDs (Solid State Drives) over the coming months and will come in a range of sizes.
These Samsung SSDs will come in a choice of in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB options. It is not known what type of hardware encryption method Samsung will use, but Engadget thinks that it will have something to do with Trusted Computer Group’s 128-bit standards, which Samsung and most other SSD makers adopted back in January.
There is no word on how much Dell will charge for these drives will cost, but if we look at current prices, they are not going to be cheap. Do you think it is worth paying the extra money for these encrypted drives?
