Palm Pre and webOS release, turn smartphone market on its ear

The news that Palm is to launch the Pre and its new operating system, WebOS has turned the smartphone market on its collective ear. We do not have an exact release date, but we do know that the new smartphone will be launched some time in Q2 2009.

Everything Pre has said that the Palm Pre has been good for the mobile phone company, as it has become the biggest news for the media, such as technology bloggers. The Pre has been a long time coming for Palm, as they promised last year that the “first half fiscal 09 to be a turning point in the business”.

Palm has faced a few tough months, but it is the success of the Palm Centro that has helped the cell phone maker continue to stay on course. Palm has been under a huge amount of criticism, asking for them to update its aging handset line, and the Pre shows that the company listens.
