Early last week there was a public ad photo shoot of the Nikon D5000 dSLR, and the flip-down and 360-degree twist articulating LCD certainly turned a few heads. This new model is a sort of replacement for the popular D80, which has finally outlived itself.
As with all cameras they come with a host of great features, some seem to stand out above the rest, and it is the D5000’s video capture perk and low price that do just that.
Cnet have written an extensive review, they tell us that Nikon have decided to drop its usual CCDs and switch to a CMOS sensor instead, this is the same 12.3-megapixel version that is being used in the D90. The D5000 also borrows a few other tricks from the D90, such as its LCD, AF system and higher resolution.
We know that Canon and Olympus have dSLR cameras coming to the market for 2009, and the Nikon D5000 is more than capable of competing with them.
