Almost 1.5 million General Motors (GM) sedans are to be recalled to fix a fault in the engine, the flaw in the engine if not fixed could result in an engine fire. The troubled automaker is working closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on this recall.
Those sedans that are involved in the recall are Buick Regals made from 1997 to 2003, Chevrolet Luminas, Impalas and Monte Carlos made from 1998 to 2003. Also included are Oldsmobile Intrigues made from 1998 to 1999 and Pontiac Grand Prix built from 1997 to 2003. The models are those with the naturally aspirated 3.8 liter V6 engines.
All Headline News tells us that hard braking in those models could cause an oil leak in the engine’s exhaust manifold; this as we know is very hot when the engine is on. If oil gets onto the hot manifold this, could ignite the oil and then burn the plastic brackets that hold the spark plug wires.
GM will fix this problem by replacing the brackets; this will be free of charge.

they need to address the oil leak as well as the spark plug wire plastic for crying out loud this has been a problem since these cars have left the factory.
Why the provocative picture of the engine fire included with this article? There have been no fires reported related to this recall.
