Reuters have been speaking to a number of analysts, which they confirmed that Dell has been working with Chi Mei Communications, this is an unlisted subsidiary of Taiwan electronics giant Hon Hai. Red Office, based in China will be working on designing the phones operating system.
Hon Hai’s Spokesmen had no comment, but a Red Office spokeswoman did confirm that her company was indeed working on an OS for a Dell smartphone.
It is not certain which Chinese mobile carrier the Dell smartphone will appear on. The reason why Dell has decided to launch its smartphone in China first, is that it is the largest cellular market by subscribers.
