Companies should always remember to listen to their customers, and this is especially true before launching new products. So it’s interesting to see a Windows Mobile executive answering questions on Facebook.
While the answers he gave were not that interesting or did not give much away, the questions the Windows Mobile users asked did show what the consumer wants in new versions of their software.
PC World reports that there was a pattern towards users wanting an upgrade option for Windows Mobile 6.5. This latest version of the operating system has an expected release of late 2009.
While some of the current generation Smartphone’s will be able to upgrade, not all of them will be able to, and this is complicated further by the process being handled by mobile operators.
Are you happy to spend more money on a new phone for Windows Mobile 6.5, if you cannot upgrade your current device? If not, what would you suggest?

I have a Samsung SCH-i760 and I would love to upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5. I really hope it will be possible. I like to support Microsoft, not a big apple fan, or iphone fan.
I think people should have the option and if Microsoft likes to gain more market share against apple, and other mobile OS’s they should do it. I’ll even pay an upgrade fee. why not?
Wouldn’t fork out my money for 6.5, if I were to be willing to buy a new phone I would get one running android, or maybe even the N97 (Symbian). I have a Diamond and I think it has very similar hardware to the Diamond 2 which will run 6.5 so it wouldn’t be too hard to get it straight onto the Diamond 1 without any bugs at all. I’m thinking about installing one of these leaked versions of 6.5 onto my phone now…Dunno if its worth the hassle or if I should wait til the actual version is out.
