It was a busy day yesterday at the NY Auto Show as all the big carmakers needed to show to the world that they still have a lot to offer in this current downturn. BMW had a strong showing, as for the first time the German automaker showed off the X6 M and it certainly looks striking in red.
Engadget cannot seem to understand why it has taken this long for BMW to offer us an M version of the X6, but we have to say that it has been worth the wait. It has been a year since BMW launched the X6, and a year on the X6 M has a number of improvements.
The engine is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and used to push out 400-hp, now those clever Germans have managed to squeeze an extra 155hp from the thing, the engine now pumps out 555hp. Sometimes having an M model makes no sense, but then again it don’t need to as it is all about fun, and the X6 M has plenty of that.
