Electric Cars all the rage at New York Auto Show 2009

The New York Auto Show 2009 is all about innovations when it comes to the fuel economy of a vehicle, this year electric cars and hybrids have featured more than ever at the show. Automkaers are fighting to stay alive as car sales are on the slide; one area where they know they can improve is with the economy of a vehicle.

The thing is, car makers know that consumers want their $ to go further and that means they want to be able to travel further for less, saving them money and the environment at the same time. The New York Auto Show 2009 opens to the public on Friday, April 10 through April 19, and some of the electric cars on show are listed below.

The MINI E is an all-electric vehicle and will go from o to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds. The car has a range of 156 miles under ideal driving conditions.

The Fisker Karma goes from 0-60 in about 6 seconds, has a top speed of 125 mph and with the use of the electric and standard engine can average 100mpg.

We all know the Chevy Volt; this vehicle will not use a gasoline engine so produces zero emissions.
