Apple trailing RIM: Sales and market share count
By: Daniel Chubb | April 9, 2009 | Leave a CommentWhile BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIMM) is known for it’s popularity in the business Smartphone sector, Apple (AAPL) has steamed ahead in terms of App Store success and public awareness.
You could be fooled into thinking that Apple are beating RIM in the Smartphone world, but you would be wrong. CNN Money explain that Apple may be leading when it comes to technology in Smartphone’s, but they are trailing the BlackBerry maker in terms of sales.
In this tough phone business, sales and market share count. When we look at the quarter that ended at the end of February 09, RIM shipped 7.8 million devices compared to Apple’s 4.4 million iPhone’s.
This shows us that RIM may be outselling Apple by one million devices a month, and that’s quite a margin. What’s also surprising is that RIM claim that 70 percent of their new subscribers in this period were “non-enterprise”.
CNN Money take a look at how Apple can beat RIM, read more on that here.
