Conficker Virus: Worm infected PCs down

Vietnam based security research company Bkis have reported that the total number of PCs infected with the Conficker worm virus is down to 3.5 million. The company said that the amount of PC systems infected with the Conficker-C is 1.3 Million.

Spamfighter have been looking into these results and report that the highest number of infected systems is in China, with 13.68% of total PCs infected. Brazil has 10.44% of the Conficker worm infection rate while Russia stands at 9.29%. The amount of PCs infected with the Conficker A or B stand at 2.2 million.

Early statistics suggested that at least 9 million PCs received the Conficker worm virus, but it shows how wrong these stats were. Patrik Runald, Chief Security Advisor at F-Secure said that the Conficker Working Group and its team of security investigators working on putting a stop to the virus said that they had managed to prevent its authors from registering domains, which was used by the worm.
