Companies queuing up for Midway buy-out
By: Alan Ng | April 8, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that several companies are lining up to buy out troubled company Midway. With all the recent news of their bankruptcy and possible sale of their main asset Mortal Kombat, a buy out may appear to be the best option for them.
As reported by Kotaku, big shots Warner Brothers, Ubisoft and a third unnamed Chicago investor have all been sourced as possible buyers for the company.
Kotaku say that Ubisoft has been in talks with Midway for ‘weeks’ now and also that Vice President at Warner visited the Midway studios last week. Recently, we told you that the devs behind Mortal Kombat were unhappy over a lack of bonus payments, it’s all mounting up for Midway it seems at the moment.
When pressed for an official statement, Midway declined to comment on these stories. Kotaku sources point out though, that Warner Bros is the most likely candidate for the purchase.
