Blackberry and Apple Apps: Worlds Apart
By: Peter Chubb | April 8, 2009 | 1 CommentIt is close to a week now since RIM launched the BlackBerry App World, their answer to the Apple App Store. This new service is worlds apart from Apple’s App Store, one thing that did stand out was the fact that Apple offers more enterprise software apps for its iPhone handset than Research In Motion does for its BlackBerry smartphones.
Information Week has been taking a closer look at the two, they even picked up on the fact that we could see more mobile versions of corporate software apps on the iPhone App Store, which will not even appear on the BlackBerry App World.
This certainly makes you think, how can this be true as BlackBerry has always been a handset for corporate users and the iPhone comes from the consumer world. The answer is simple really; Apple and RIM have taken different approaches when it comes to distributing enterprise software on their smartphones.
