Apple slapped with Lawsuit: infringed touchscreen patents

Elan, a Taiwanese Chip design company has filed a lawsuit against Apple, saying that they have infringed its touchscreen patents. The lawsuit has been filed in a U.S. District Court in San Francisco. Those products that are alleged to infringe on the touchscreen patents include the iPhone, iPod Touch and the new Apple MacBook.
A spokesperson for Elan, Dennis Liu told New York Times said, “We couldn’t find a common viewpoint with Apple, so we decided we had to take action.” Elan is now looking at posing a challenge to Apple’s powerful legal team.
It seems that a legal battle over touchscreen technology has been heating up over recent months. In January, Apple said that they could be taking legal action against Palm, whose new smartphone the Pre seems to mimic the touchscreen interface on the iPhone.
