Apple iPhone Gmail App: Native application needed

Yesterday saw the release of a much-improved Web client for Android handsets as well as the iPhone. This was a great idea but not as good as having a native application for the iPhone. The Google Gmail team has been asked on a number of occasions if there was one on the way, and the response was the same as usual, they will not discuss any future products that have yet to be announced.

Cnet News has been taking a closer look at the idea of a Gmail native application for the iPhone, and to see if it will actually work. Cnet looks at how a Gmail application will be able to give an iPhone user instead of what is currently being offering, which will be on the iPhone OS 3.0, due out in the summer.

Push delivery/Push notifications is something that Gmail for Android users enjoy. The moment that an email comes in you get a pop-up to let you know. The fastest way for you to know that you have an email on the iPhone is every 15 minutes, so you have to wonder if a native iPhone app will do the same as Gmail for Android.
