Apple iPod Touch Camera: Do you want it?

Apple have posted a couple of jobs recently for a Camera Project Manager for the iPhone, this shows that Apple are now thinking more seriously about having a camera in its iPhone and iPod Touch. It is no secret that the Touch is laking a camera but the real shocker is the underperforming camera in the iPhone 3G.

The news that Apple are looking to add a camera to its iPod Touch will bring the device in closer feature parity with the iPhone 3G. The funny thing is, Ars Technica tell us that the posting has now been edited to remove the word iPod, so either Apple have changed their mind, or maybe the posting was not accurate.

If the rumors are true of the iPod Touch getting a camera, it is doubtful that a camera will make it on to the new model, which is due out in the summer. Developing something new on a device such as an iPod Touch takes at least a year or more.

    This is probably the most boneheaded statement. Why does the author think it would take a year to simply remove the phone hardware from on iPhone to make it an iPod Touch with a camera? Talk about not thinking outside the box…

    I would love a camera on the iPod Touch. I live in Canada which means my only iPhone option is Rogers. Rogers coverage sucks in my city and if my carrier, who I work for, had an iPhone I would have bought it long ago. Instead I have a Blackberry.

    Either Apple needs to release a CDMA iPhone, or we need to switch away from CDMA. Until one of those things happens, I’d kind of like an iPod Touch that does everything an iPhone does, except function as a phone.

    With that new show Virtuality coming soon with lots and lots of smallish multi-touch thin tablets, I’d be satisfied if Apple just released something similar. :P

    i think they should like a chip and you push a button and it pops up in the air you can touch it feel it and here it
    you can also take pics of what ever you want to i hope that is what happens with all technology hpefully not food though ha ha ha ha ha ha ha that would be funny that would also mean were lazy and were not

    i mean half of us are loosing homes you know what i will just shutup cus i’m so pissed at olboma most of you may love him but i don’t he will bring the world down watch out run i’m not racist actually i think that is cool we have a black president and everything rock him for that but wait till you know what he will do to us he will make us homeless bring more wars we will be in the depression again noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo joke.:(

    If it would take a year or more to develop a new ipod touch, maybe they started developing it before the second gen ipod touch was released as the second gen was just a new design and built in nike+ipod and better speaker…

    Apple has become a master at manipulating the market. I had a discussion, not 2 days before the release of the 4th Gen iPod Touch, wherein I declared that if Apple would only include a camera I would buy one. But how was I to know they would even conceive of putting such a decrepit “solution” for capturing still images… Honestly, it was the only thing they could have done that would have caused me to delay my purchase, so I am doing just that. I assume they just want to suck more people into the fold before releasing the full-blown device that this one should have been.
