Twitter and Evan Williams sale price
By: Daniel Chubb | April 6, 2009 | 1 CommentSo how much is Twitter worth and are they really about to sell? These are some of the questions that have been on minds of tech news readers over the last few days.
This came following a report from Tech Crunch that Twitter was in late stage acquisition talks with Google. We asked the question last week “What if Google bought Twitter?” but TechCrunch posted an update that the two parties were far apart on Twitter’s price.
It now seems that Google values Twitter at $250m and Evan Williams (Twitter chief executive) will not sell for even $1 billion. All Things Digital reports that Williams is not interested as yet and Twitter is not ready to sell.
We have seen Facebook change to a Twitter style homepage over the last few weeks and the main news media has now started picking up on Twitter, so whatever their current value it looks to increase. We and many other sites are also on Twitter.
For now talks will continue and offers may keep coming in from different companies, but when and how much Twitter is worth is up for debate.
