Research In Motion Limited (RIMM) have seen its stocks increase after the company posted some great financial results, as well as informing us that they have now sold 50 million BlackBerry Smartphone’s. RIM posted its fourth quarter, and the good results were a huge relief to those people who thought that the recession had taken its toll on the company.
According to PC World, up until February 28, revenue was US$3.46 billion, which is up 84 percent on the same period last year. RIM managed to ship 7.8 million units, which was also great news for the Smartphone giant. Net profit was up from $412.5 million last year to $518.3 million this year.
These figures were helped by RIM adding a further 3.9 million BlackBerry subscribers. Stock has now risen 7.6 percent to $49.09 in normal hours, stock then rose another 23.4 percent to $60.58 in after-hours trading. A number of companies think that the recession could help companies like RIM, as they only focus on Smartphone’s, and this is one of the hottest items of 2009.
