Does anyone remember Sony’s Play TV gizmo? Well lets hope you do, as there is now a new update for the software which adds an SD upscaler feature as well as a few other additions.
As reported over at Videogamer, the new SD upscaler feature is said to improve picture quality and enhance contrast when viewing. Producer of Play TV Mark Bunting has demonstrated in a new video here, the feature in action.
Other addtions include the ability to launch into viewing TV directly from the PS3’s XMB, eliminating the previous method of having to first load the PlayTV app. There are also improved volume controls and better fast forward and rewind options.
Let us know what you think of the update. Do any of you still use Play TV regularly?

Where can I buy it for state side use? Then, I will comment, after I have used it. I live in Illinois. So I have had no luck, even when it seems like you can buy anything from anywhere. Does anyone know when it will be sold in the states?
Of course we who have bought it use ut regularly. Everyday. It’s a damn fine PVR device.
Try it, you’ll love it. Even without the conax support.
And the update is not up yet, you would know that if youd have PlayTV.
umm………… it is not out in the U.S.A
i have a free standing hard drive on my ps3 for more memory. id like to save my play tv recordings to it but the play tv menue does not allow me to choose where to save it . id like this option added on the next update.
