PS3 Firmware v2.70 Update released
Filed under: Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

We have had a week of speculation about the PS3 2.70 firmware release and whether it would be available this week or not. We can now confirm that the update has gone live and it adds a great new feature in the way of Text Chat.
We heard yesterday from a source within Sony Ireland about the 2.70 firmware going live today. Many thought this would be an April fools joke but it looks as if that source was true, unlike a rumour from Incgamer who thought the update wouldnt be released this week.
Anyway, its now live and available to download soon as you boot up your systems. The main feature is ‘Text Chat’, which will allow you to chat with up to 15 friends either on the XMB or best yet, whilst playing PS3 games too, very nice.
There is a video demo of the new feature over on the PS Blog and it looks great in action. We think in-game communication is going to be a lot more easier now. There are also some other improvements included in the update, head to the link above to check out the full update. Enjoy.
