With all the media frenzy surrounding the PS3 price cut, Sony’s John Koller has said recently that the current $399.99 price tag is justified and has called the system ‘a premium product’.
As reported by VideoGamer, Koller stated: We’re monitoring all aspects of the business and we believe the overall value of the box certainly trumps any other move at this point. We also do believe in the overall value of the box and the perceived value that’s inherent in the PS3 as a premium product is important. So we’re doing our best to message that.”
Well theres no doubt that Sony are enforcing their stance on no PS3 price cut for the time being. After the PS2 price cut though, many feel that a PS3 cut is on the way.

I think that a price cut will most certainly happen over the next 18 months. Beyond that, suck it up and pay the money if you want the damn thing.

PS3 may be a premium product but the bottom line is if people want to buy a system just for games they are going to opt for the Xbox 360. The PS3 is a multimedia machine with gaming capabilities. The Xbox 360 is a games console. Yes I own a PS3 and yes I own an Xbox 360 and by far the Xbox 360 is better for gaming. However that could change as PSN is getting better (slowly but surely) and PS3 is starting to be used as the lead format for multiplat games so they are thet little bit better on PS3.
But that doesnt stop PS3 needing a price cut. It does! I know plenty of people waiting to jump on the PS3 band wagon but the price is just too much for them.
I think by Christmas we will see some form of price cut. Especially now its curculating that MS might indeed be cutting the price of the Xbox 360 yet again.
