Quickplay: TV shows on RIM’s Blackberry App Store
By: Peter Chubb | April 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentQuickPlay Media Inc are in the process of delivering full length TV shows on RIM’s Blackberry Smartphone’s, which will be made available via BlackBerry App World, Research In Motion’s new applications store. They have managed to forge agreements with a number of top US TV networks, such as CBS Corp, MTV and NBC.
Reuters have been explaining that Quickplay will charge a monthly subscription fee for its PrimeTime2Go service, just $7.99 per month. The service will be delivered over Wi-Fi links, a short-range high-speed wireless network; this will help to provide greater download speeds.
This new TV service will be made available on BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve 8900 handsets; both Smartphone’s have Wi-Fi links. Apple also offers the same kind of service for its iPhone and iPod Touch via the iTunes store. However, iTunes charges per-show basis rather than a monthly subscription that Quickplay is offering.
