PS3 Price Cut: Now more likely than ever
By: Peter Chubb | April 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentSony announced yesterday that they are to cut the price of the PS2 by $30, the price that you now pay is $99. There are those who see this as a positive sign that we could see a PS3 price cut, even though Sony (SNE) maintains that they will not.
The sale of PS2 software accounted for 21 percent of all games console software sold in the last quarter of 2008, that figure has fallen to 19 percent in the Q1 2009. Sony believes that by reducing the price of the PS2, then that in turn will help to drive software sales up.
Game Daily has been talking to a couple of experts and they said that they expect to see a PS3 price cut very soon. They say that we could be looking at a $100 price cut in the next 60 days or so. If this were the case, then it would be a positive step for the industry, as they are feeling the effects of this economic slowdown.
