Hewlett-Packard (HP) studying Android for notebook computers

For years now, Microsoft has been king when it comes to software on PC based computers, but Hewlett-Packard (HP) could change all that. The computer giant are giving Google the entrée that it needs to provide the go-to operating system for its new range of notebook computers.

As HP is the No. 1 PC maker, if they make a change to its preferred choice of operating system, the computer world will stand up and take notice. The news that Hewlett-Packard is looking into the possibility of using Google’s Android operating system to see if it will be able to work on it range of computers.

Business Week has been speaking to a HP spokesperson, and that did confirm that HP is evaluating Android’s computing and communications functions. It is thought that HP’s range of small netbooks would be the first to use the Android OS. These small machines usually run on Windows XP or open-source Linux operating system as it demands less power from the processor and RAM, so Google Android is an obvious choice.
