EA say de-authorisation now available for SecuROM
By: Alan Ng | April 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentElectronic Arts have just released a ‘de-authorisation’ tool for it’s SecuRom DRM system which will now allow users to get rid of the installation limit on a set number of PCs.
As reported by GI.Biz, games that were protected by SecuRom only allowed up to five installations on different computers. EA have stated that while this policy won’t change, the de-authorisation tool will allow you to deactivate one machine if you choose, allowing you to free up slots in the process, phew.
We already know previously that Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC used the SecuROM service, but EA have also revealed a number of games that users will be able to make use of if they want to. They are: Spore, Mirror’s Edge, Mass Effect, Burnout Paradise, Dead Space and Red Alert 3.
