The day is Wednesday and there are three things happening, April Fools Day, CTIA 2009 in Las Vegas, and the beginning of the long-awaited BlackBerry App World. This new service is Research in Motion’s (RIM) effort to make certain that its range of BlackBerry handsets can compete with the iPhone to become a top Smartphone.
BlackBerry App World allows you to browse, purchase and then download the app direct to your BlackBerry handset. You will first need to download the storefront, just visit mobile.blackberry.com or www.blackberry.com/appworld from your BlackBerry browser.
Once you have done this, you will now see a BlackBerry App World icon on your homescreen. Before you can start to purchase apps for your handset, you will have to set up a PayPal account on your computer. PC World has been taking a closer look at BlackBerry App World, and has been giving their impressions of the new service.
