Symantec gives Conficker worm tips for Windows XP and Vista users
By: Peter Chubb | March 31, 2009 | 1 CommentApril 1st is not going to be a nice day for Microsoft and Windows users, as that is when the Conficker worm will strike. Before you start to panic there are a few easy steps that you can take, and Symantec have all the advice that you need to make certain that tomorrow does not spell trouble for your Windows computer.
The Conficker worm will target all users of Windows XP and Vista, and will start taking steps to protect itself more from April 1st. Machines that have been infected with the “C” variant of the worm will then start running in to trouble, as they might not be able to get patches or security updates from Microsoft.
If you currently use Symantec’s Norton security products, then you should have nothing to worry about, as you are protected. Those users who do not have this protection could download a trial version of Norton 360, Norton Internet Security 2009 or Antivirus 2009. All three products will protect you against the Conficker worm.
