CTIA 2009 starts tomorrow, and there seems to be a theme to this year’s show, messaging phones. It looks as though the Korean’s have the same idea as both LG and Samsung have released handsets that support full alphabetic keyboards, this allows for faster texting. However Sanyo wants a piece of the action and have got together with Sprint to launch the SCP-2700.
The Palm Pre just can’t come soon enough for Sprint, they must hate launching these average handsets.
I like how CNET have put it, “Sanyo is getting in on the thumb wars.” The SCP-2700 has a rectangular candy bar design, the phone is not that unique, but Sanyo have done its best to put its own stamp on things. There is a choice of two colors, deep blue and impulsive pink.
The handset has a 2.2-inch display which supports 65,000 colors, and the keyboard has a number of shortcut keys to help navigating easier. Sanyo do not launch many phones, just take the Sanyo PRO 200 and 700, these were launched back in January.
Some of the specs include:
- 1.3-Megapixel Camera
- 600-Contact Phone Book
- Bluetooth
- E-Mail Capabilities
- Gps
- Messaging
- Personal Organizer
- Speakerphone
- Sprint Navigation
- Voice Dialing
- Wireless Backup
