PS2 price cut confirmed for US and Europe only, not UK
By: Alan Ng | March 31, 2009 | 4 CommentsWe wrote to you yesterday about the new $99 price point that was due to be revealed by Sony today. Well we can confirm that to be true but we have also heard there will be a price cut in Europe as well, but not for UK owners.
SCEE was speaking to VG247 and made sure everyone knew exactly what the PS2 price cut entails. Europe will now be able to pick up a PS2 for €99 but stated, ”The price of PS2 is not being reduced in the UK”.
At the moment, you can pick up a silver slim line PS2 from Play for £59.99 with free delivery anyway, so it makes sense not to reduce the price further in the UK.
Meanwhile over in the US, Sony made a big deal out of the PS2 price cut there as John Koller made a big speech about it on the PS Blog.
Are you that bothered about the new deals for the PS2? We have a feeling many of you are more concerned about the juicy 2.70 firmware update we have been hearing about. We would like to know your views on this.
