General Motors (GM) Hummer Division and its fate

General Motors Corp. GM) did have until today to decide if its struggling Hummer Division will die off forever, or if they could allow the vehicle to live on with a new owner. AutoBlog is now reporting that the decision has been postponed, GM now have a couple more weeks to take a closer look at the bidders for the brand.

General Motors told the federal government that they are making a decision to kill off the brand or maybe sell the Hummer brand by the end of the first quarter. GM needs to make a decision as part of a plan for GM to receive loans from the government.

General Motors have said that they do have a few possible buyers for Hummer; dealers are hoping that maybe Chinese automaker will come in and save the brand. GM put Hummer up for sale back in June 2008, and dealers are still left wondering where their future lies.

GM will have to work quickly as there stocks fell by 30 percent yesterday morning over bankruptcy fears.
