Download Skype for iPhone on US iTunes store free of charge
By: Peter Chubb | March 31, 2009 | Leave a CommentSkype for the Apple iPhone is finally here and is available for download from the US iTunes store free of charge. Japan had the app 12 hours before the US and they have been saying some good things about the app, although they did report a couple of issues, but only minor.
Engadget have been taking a closer look at the Skype app for the iPhone, one problem that they noticed was they were only able to dial out on 3G and not over WiFi. There have been a number of reports that the application has been crashing on jailbroken iPhones, some non-jalibroken ones as well.
Many of the problems are due to Engadget running on OS 3.0 beta, sometimes they could not call out then another time they got no sound from Skype. If you are running on the normal firmware, then things have been much better, but you can only make calls over WiFi. Overall, the sound quality is very good.
