April 2nd PS3 Firmware v2.70: Lets hope it’s no April Fools

We recently informed you that a new PS3 firmware was on the horizon, originally thought to be this month. Some fresh details have emerged and by the looks of it, solid information that firmware 2.70 will be released on the 2nd April, this Thursday.

According to TheGamingOwl, they have acquired some ‘legit’ details from Sony Ireland who have told a user that the update will be released on April 2nd, which everyone knows is PS3 update day.

The apparent quote from Sony Ireland states: ”Ive just had confirmation that this update will be released on April 2nd - official release and screenshots are due on Monday.”

Well it’s already Tuesday today and we didn’t get any official announcement or these screenshots yesterday, so there is a lot of head scratching going on at the moment. We do know that Sony is planning an announcement today at some stage, so maybe this is linked to that perhaps. We will have to wait and see.
