Skype have been teasing us for months with the announcement at CES that Skype was coming to the iPhone, and the good news is that the VoIP software will be available for download this Tuesday from the Apple iTunes App Store. If you just have the iPod Touch, then you can make free class with the Truphone app.
CNET say that there is not much difference with the standard Skype software on your PC to the iPhone version, and this is for good reason, as Skype wants to maintain some consistency with its mobile apps. There are a few features that are missing from this mobile application but then there are a few extra features just for the iPhone.
The Skype’s VoIP app for the iPhone has a more traditional look than the Skype 4.0 for Windows. The iPhone Skype app has the ability to add filter, so you are able to sort contacts by who is online or alphabetically. Chatting is the secondary feature for this app; the main feature is all about VoIP. This service is free to other Skype users, and you can call landlines for a cheap per-minute fee.
Skype for the iPhone will be available on Tuesday.
Skype 3.0 Beta is also available for download for Windows Mobile
