EA say The Sims 3 will not use DRM
By: Alan Ng | March 27, 2009 | Leave a CommentEA have today stated that they will not be using Digital Rights Management for their upcoming title The Sims 3, which is scheduled for release on PC and recently announced, Apple iPhone around June this year.
In a report by GI.Biz, they say the reason for this is due to a strong user backlash from the player-base of the publisher’s other products. EA CEO John Riccitiello has said himself that he doesnt like DRM but thought that some titles required it.
He explained: “To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed. “We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorisation server access in the distant future.”
