Following on from our announcement about the Wii exclusive Toy Story Mania!, Disney have revealed that the game will make use of 3D Glasses to enhance the game and best of all, the glasses will be free to every owner who picks up a copy of the game.
We first heard about the use of 3D glasses at the 2008 CES event where Sony showcased various games making use of the new technology.
As reported from Edge-Online, Disney Interactive Studios have said that their new Toy Story game will follow on from this and the 3D glasses will be a ‘requirement’ to play. You will not have to have any special TV set either as they also said ‘they will work with standard television sets’.
Could this be a start of more developers making use of 3D gaming? Let us know your thoughts.

nintendo tried this in the 80’s w/ a few titles, was not a huge success. in the 50’s t.v’s started over shadowing movies leading to the scrambling of producers to come up with ideas like 3-d and smell-o-vision. there was no success for them as well . the answer for the movie industry is the same for the video game , they made better movies w/ more special effects and action packed scripted material. take note that in order to revive the video game industry game makers must rethink on how they develope the platforms not the graphics , case in point `world of goo’ for the wii console , now thats a game w/ cutting edge addictive fun.us sony and dreamworks biggest competitor is the big bad flat screen tv. which is becoming more affordable . but with both industries beginning to become stale i feel hula hoops, pogo sticks and frisbees will make a come .back
well said and I aggree with you flynt007
