PC Perspective has been looking closely at this, and have wrote a 28 page article on the subject. They have put both operating systems through their paces and have used seven graphics cards, from ATI and NVIDIA from different price ranges.

Three ATI Radeon HD and four NVIDIA GeForce cards were put through their paces playing on six games. This has to be one of the biggest benchtests I have seen in a while, but certainly worth the read. What they did notice was, the Windows 7 machine performed the same if not better than Windows Vista.
