2TB Western Digital My Book series released

If you are in the market for a new Western Digital single-disk My Book external hard drive, then you will pleased to know that the storage solution company has upgraded the range to a 2TB capacity. To put this in perspective you will be able to store 241 hours of full-bitrate HD, ideal for Mac user who shop at iTunes.

Electronista has said that users have purchased at least 250 million TV shows and over 33 million movies have been purchased outright or rented. Other features on the hard drives remain the same, and have been headlined by the My Book Mac Edition and Studio Edition.

Both these Mac products come pre-formatted in HFS+ for Apple computers, the studio have also included FireWire 400/800 to the core Mac Edition’s USB connection. The Home Edition has been targeted for the largest audience, as the device also features Windows-friendly formatting.

All the Western Digital drives are now shipping with prices starting between $330 and $380. The 2TB Mac Edition will ship next month.

Western Digital have been hit hard by this recession, and in recent months have had to layoff over 2,500 of its workforce. It is hoped by launching a range of new products like these new My Book external hard drive, that the company will be able to turn things around.
