By: Peter Chubb | March 25, 2009 | 1 CommentUnicom has confirmed that they are to become the Chinese provider for the Apple 3G iPhone; they are now in the process of prepping the handset for entry into China. It is thought that the 3G iPhone will be available in China on May 17, there is also to be a number of trials before that date.

JLM Pacific Epoch reports that China Unicom is planning to wait to announce the agreement until May 17. You have to wonder why Unicom would want to start offering the iPhone 3G in May, when there are a number of rumors stating that a new iPhone will be launched in June.
iTech News have added that the company is also going to launch the launch the T-Mobile G1 Android phone. The G1 handset is already the largest profit for T-Mobile, and if these rumors are true, then profits will be considerably higher.
