Ricoh have launched a brand new point-and-shoot compact camera to its range, the CX1 is the perfect addition to Ricoh’s 7x optical zoom range of cameras. The CX1 has the same 28-200mm focal length as the R10, but there is something different about this new model, it has the new 9-megapixel CMOS sensor.
This new model is thought to offer significant improvements in both operational speed and image quality. Ricoh say that the CX1 features a dynamic range of 12 EV, the end results are images that are much closer to what we see with the naked eye.
The photographyblog have done an extensive review of the camera, they did not like the R10 model as it produced too much image noise, but they found that the CX1 with its new 9 megapixel CMOS sensor helped to improve on that area.
The main rivals for the CX1 is the Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR and the Canon PowerShot A2100 IS
