GameStop’s senior VP of merchandising Bob McKenzie has been talking about the upcoming release of the Nintendo DSi, he has said that pre-orders are more than double than those seen for the original DS.
McKenzie also added that although demand is higher than that of the first DS, there should be more than enough stock to keep the shelves replenished. He added that it is the shipments directly after the launch that are the most important, and if Nintendo get it right, then should be no problem.
McKenzie also added that the supply worries with the Wii has finally reached parity with consumer demand. It does make me wonder why it has taken Nintendo 3 years to get on top of its stock demand with the Wii.
The Nintendo DSi will be launched in the UK on April 3 and April 5 in the US.
