Nintendo’s Pokemon series wont be getting online play
By: Alan Ng | March 23, 2009 | Leave a CommentJunichi Masuda, who is the senior director for the popular Pokemon video games, has said that they have no plans at the moment to introduce online play into the games, instead focusing on ‘real-life communication.’
In a story over at GI.Biz, Masuda was speaking about the issue and also distanced himself over the idea of an online pokemon game or MMO type of game.
He stated: “At this point, we’re not thinking of going in that direction,” he said. “Trading is a core concept of Pokémon. So when you’re trading, you meet with a friend and decide which one you want and which one they want. I would like to emphasize real-world communication. You don’t see each other online.”
Their latest game in the series, Pokemon Platinum has already been released onto the Nintendo DS in Japan and America and is preparing for a European release on the 22nd May.
