Palm Pre makes a June 09 Apple iPhone needed

We reported this morning that Palm (PALM) has lost $95 million in the third quarter of 2008, and that they are hoping that its new Palm Pre will be able to help them survive in these troubling times. The Pre like the BlackBerry Storm (RIMM) is being hailed as the next contender to the Apple (AAPL) iPhone.

The new Palm Pre is expected in June 09, and we reported on a rumor today that a new iPhone is also on its way in June. We are not certain how much truth there is in it, but if it is true, this could be a disaster for Palm and the Pre Smartphone.

We know that the new iPhone OS 3.0 is due around the June period, so it would make sense to launch a new iPhone handset at the same time. There is no question that a new iPhone is needed, the 3G model is a great phone, and as time goes on the hardware starts to look old. There have already been rumors of a new processor, so it does all point to a new iPhone.

If rumors are true, then we have to wonder what we can expect from a new iPhone. It is hard to know where to start, but one thing that the iPhone needs is a better camera, 2-megapixel just don’t cut it anymore. Apple needs at least a 5-megapixel in its next iPhone, as well as video. I could go on all day about what is needed, we will just have to wait and see if there is any truth in it.

Do you think we will see a new Apple iPhone in June?
