
OLED iPhone / Netbook: LG and Apple to partner
By: Peter Chubb | March 20, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that Apple (AAPL) is all set to launch a new OLED notebook and monitors, as well as a new OLED iPhone with LG (066570). It is also thought that the new rumored iPhone and iPod Touch due out later this year will have an OLED screen made by LG.
SmartHouse claim that they have spoken to its source and said that Apple have already worked on a prototype of a new notebook, the device will be manufactured in Taiwan and will have an LG OLED screen.
LG have also stated that they are to increase its R&D investment by 25%; most of that investment will be going to OLED solar and new battery technology. Apple has paid LG $500 million up front to work on new display technology.
